Over the past week, rumors and reports have been swirling that wrestling legend Hulk Hogan has reached a "verbal agreement" with WWE to return. Per these claims, there was even a possibility of "The Hulkster" showing up as a shock entrant at next year's Royal Rumble.
Since we have gotten a lot of email over this, there's nothing to stories that Hulk Hogan has made a "verbal" agreement with WWE to return. We have heard that the two sides have been in communication, but nothing has been agreed, sealed, signed, etc.
Of course, fans eager to see Hogan back with America's No. 1 wrestling promotion shouldn't be too disheartened by this news. Looking at the situation, it seems inevitable that the performer will return to old boss Vince McMahon in some capacity very soon.
Frankly, the 60-year-old doesn't really have that many options. WWE may be his only shot at a well-paying, long-term wrestling gig.
It seems unlikely that he will reach a new deal with TNA. For one thing, the company is in a total state of disarray right now.
As CageSideSeats notes, reports are flying around that the Carter family have grown tired of the money-losing TNA and have placed it up for sale. Everyone from Jeff Jarrett to Billy Corgan has been rumored to be interested in buying the company.
Considering this upheaval, it is difficult to see the Hall of Famerbeing able to strike up a new deal.
That Hogan's profile was recently removed from the company'sofficial roster may be a sign that Dixie Carter is well and truly done with the star.
Long-term ally Eric Bischoff reportedly being sent home last week is also a bad sign. There's no way that would have happened if Hogan still had any power.
Besides, with the upcoming WWE Network (Stephanie McMahon recently stated thatWWE was aiming for a 2014 launch date), the company will be keen to get Hogan back.
