Former Croatian legendary midfielder Zvonimir Boban has blasted Mario Balotelli by insisting that the controversial Rossonerri star would be "carrying other stars bags" in his day.
The midfielder, who played for AC Milan between the years of 1991-2002, believes that Balotelli is overrated and so far is yet to deserve the praise that he is receiving at the club since his switch from Manchester City in January.
The controversial striker has only scored five goals in 19 games for AC Milan in every competition this season despite a bright start to his stint at the club, which saw him net 12 times in 13 Serie A outings.
These worrying statistics as well as half-hearted performances for both club and country have prompted sceptics in Europe including Boban to have their say on the Italy international.
"There's way too much talking about Balotelli. All he has achieved in his life is sitting on the bench at other clubs," Boban told Sky Sport Italia ahead of AC Milan's crucial Champions League showdown with Celtic.
"He would have been carrying the bags of players such as Marco Van Basten, George Weah and Andriy Shevchenko in my days."
The former Croatia international, who made 51 caps for his country and scoring twelve times also believes that the 22 year old is extremely immature and takes playing for the club for granted.
"He does not know what it means to wear the Milan jersey. Milan will always be bigger than Balotelli."
Boban also believes that the Palermo born attacker is extremely immature and could learn a thing or two from players from club role models.
"He should look at Kaka and learn from him. Kaka has won the Champions League, the World Cup and the Ballon d'Or, yet he keeps working like a youngster."
