Nigeria on Saturday qualified for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after they beat Ethiopia 4-1 on aggregate.
A penalty goal after 20 minutes by Victor Moses gave Nigeria the lead in the return leg play-off after they won the first game in Ethiopia 2-1 last month.
The African champions started the game on the front foot from the second minute when Efe Ambrose shot at goal and four minutes later, Emmanuel Emenike was denied a goal by the Ethiopia goalkeeper, who made a big save.
Ethiopia responded well with Saladin Said shooting wide in the 12th minute from inside 18 yard box.
In the 16th minute, Mikel's free kick was cut out by Ethiopia keeper who kicked the ball out before Elderson Echiejile could connect.
The deadlock was broken when Victor Moses scored from the penalty spot in the 20th minute after Ahmed Musa's shot was handled inside the box by an Ethiopia defender.
Nigeria captain Vincent Enyeama was called to duty in the 29th minute to save a dangerous long range free kick. A minute later, Victor Moses 20 yard drive was again saved by the busy Ethiopia keeper.
Brown Ideye failed to find the back of the net inside 18 yard box in the 44th minute off a rebound after Ogenyi Onazi's 25 yard shot was saved by the goalkeeper. Enyeama was on hand to make a save in the 45th minute from a freekick.
Ethiopia had most of the ball in the first 10 minute of the second half but met brick wall in the Eagles defence.
Emenike tried to put his name on the scorers sheet in the 60th minute but was stopped by the impressive Ethiopia shot stopper and 10 minutes later, Said fired wide form the edge of the box.
Nsofor then scored a superb free kick to take the game beyond Ethiopia with the second goal in the 82nd minute, just four minutes after his introduction.
