Legend Peter Schmeichel Eyes Sheffield United job

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel says he is interested in becoming the new Sheffield United manager, according to The Daily Mirror.

The 49-year-old has completed his coaching badges, and could be in line to become the new boss at Bramall Lane.

The former goalkeeper has enjoyed plenty of success as a player, having won the treble with Manchester United in 1999, as well as the European Championships in 1992 with Denmark.

Former Everton and Rangers defender David Weir was sacked by the League One club after just four months in charge following the Blades' awful start to the season. Having only won one league game thus far, they are currently bottom of the table.

The Blades suffered yet another defeat on Sunday against Coventry, where former United defender Chris Morgan was in temporary charge.

Nigel Clough is currently the odds-on favourite to take charge in Yorkshire. He has been out of work after he was sacked by Derby County last month.
