France is set to launch a complaint to FIFA over the World Cup playoff seeding system, as Les Bleus believe the country is at a disadvantage.
Didier Deschamps' men are second in Group I and are almost certain to be forced to qualify through the playoffs, with world and European champion Spain only needing a point to secure the top spot in the group when it plays against Georgia on Tuesday.
With only five teams in France's group instead of six -- which every other qualifying group has -- Les Bleus believe they have had less chance of gaining ranking points with fewer games played; the result of which means they will not be seeded and will face a bigger nation when the draw is made in November.
"We're going to contact FIFA," the French Federation's president Noel Le Graet told the radio station RMC. "There is a little injustice between the group of five and the groups of six. Our rivals from other groups have been able to score more points... That's a fact."
France, which qualified for the 2010 World Cup through the playoffs by beating the Republic of Ireland by virtue of Thierry Henry's controversial non-called handball, faces Finland on Tuesday in its final qualifier.
