The 36-year-old will become Glory's international marquee player and will join the likes of Emile Heskey and Alessandro Del Piero in the Hyundai A-League.
Speaking via his agent, Gallas said: 'After speaking to Alistair Edwards (Head Coach) and Jason Brewer (CEO), the passion and ambition in the voices of both gentlemen enticed me to this new challenge in Australia. I look forward to wearing with pride the jersey of Perth Glory for this season.
A-League teams are allowed to sign one 'international marquee player' who they can offer a slightly larger wage outside of the team's set wage cap. They can also sign an 'Australian designated player' and a 'junior marquee player'.
These rulings are designed to help clubs acquire quality players whilst preventing bidding wars that can put them in financial danger before the season is underway.
'I hope to help my new team-mates and club achieve success in this season and hope to help deliver to the fans of Perth the championship they are looking for. I look forward to this new challenge and hope to excite the fans.'
Gallas, who has won two back-to-back Premier League titles with Chelsea before spells at both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. The centre-back also appeared 84 times for the French national team, something that Perth Head Coach Alistair Edwards believes will boost the popularity of football down under.
He told the Perth Glory official website: 'What better player in world football to bring to Western Australia than someone with 84 caps for one of the best footballing nations in the world?
'He has played alongside some of the best players in world football and worked under some of the most decorated managers and coaches of all time, including Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho, people whom I have the utmost respect for.'
